Biography: Raja Mishal, Ph.D. is a Transformational Speaker, Author, Social Activist, and the President, Founder and CEO of Shift to Shine, a grassroots not-for-profit community services organization that aims at transforming the lives of families to create positive and healthy family relationships. She worked as a Director of the Transplant Laboratory at Capital Health District Authority and Assistant Professor at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Working in a highly stressful environment and dealing with extreme demands of being a successful professional woman made her sick which made her embark on a transformational journey that made her appreciate the importance of building strong family bonds while finding balance as a working parent. Dr. Raja's passion is to help families create positive family dynamics and shift negative family cultures and patterns to create a legacy that will last for generations to come. She believes in building stronger communities and, hence, she devotes her time for volunteer and philanthropy work. She is a board member of the Canadian Cultural Film Festival and works as a volunteer at the Insititute of Peel Against Violence and Bereavement Families of Ontario Halton/Peel. Dr. Raja was awarded two national awards for her doctoral thesis and outstanding research publication. She is an award winner for the Health & Wellness category (2017) and community ambassador (2018) of the Absolutely Fabulous Women Over 40. Through her writings, she supports families and first and second generation immigrants in building positive relationships and integrate healthily in the Canadian Society. She is the author of “Shift to Shine: Bridging Science and Intuition”, and “Make Up or Break Up: Parent the Child Within Before Being a Parent”, and the forthcoming book “Hope Rises: The Power of Taking Action”, is a writer in the educational newspaper "Canadian Newcomers", and writes in several Arabic Newspapers. She is a screenplay writer where her writings won international awards for short film "Cesarean" and for the screenplay "Her Dream".
